Experience
Incident Analyst & IT Security Consultant — ERNW Research, Heidelberg
I focus on digital forensics and incident response, running incident analyses and root-cause investigations. I also carry out penetration tests and security assessments, and scope and prepare client proposals.
Embedded Systems Architect — Thales, Ditzingen
I designed secure embedded systems with an emphasis on cryptographic solutions, working across hardware and software teams. Much of the role involved meeting international security standards and certifications and the technical documentation they require.
Postdoctoral Researcher & Lecturer — University of Mannheim
I worked with international research teams on post-quantum-secure stream cipher designs, continuing my earlier cryptographic research. I taught CS 404 Cryptography I and supervised several Bachelor's theses.
Doctoral Researcher & Teaching Associate — University of Mannheim
My research centred on provable security for message authentication codes and stream ciphers, resulting in five peer-reviewed papers — three presented at international conferences — and the DRACO stream cipher proposed at FSE 2023. Alongside the research I taught and organised tutorials and seminars, and migrated the group's IT infrastructure from bare metal to virtualised KVM/ZFS on RHEL 9.
Earlier research and teaching assistant roles at the University of Mannheim (algorithms, theoretical computer science, and a Node.js/C++ research web interface).
Education
Dr. rer. nat., Cryptography — University of Mannheim
My dissertation developed provable-security results in the random oracle model for lightweight message authentication codes and stream ciphers. The same line of work produced the DRACO stream cipher, presented at FSE 2023.
M.Sc., Business Informatics — University of Mannheim
I specialised in computer graphics, IT security, and finance, and worked extensively in C++ with OpenCV. My seminar theses covered video compression and physically based rendering.
B.Sc., Mathematics in Business and Economics — University of Mannheim
I studied mathematics alongside business administration and economics, specialising in economics and computer science. The programme covered microeconomics, econometrics, public finance, and statistics, with programming in C, Java, and MATLAB.
